There have been more 'sponsored by' messages but they're not quite advertisments.  I think there used to be a definition of an advertisment requiring a "call to action" in order to qualify.  If you just mentioned "Joe Schmoe's Business is a sponsor" you were OK.  But if you said "Call Joes Schmoe's Business at 555-1212" then it's an advertisement.
 
You do contribute to your local public radio station, right?  Complaining about content without contributing would be rather impolite.
