I agree with Jim. I would use a xml-rpc call to Java XSLT and Fop packages to do the rendering of other formats. Why invent the wheel again?

Of course, I think the whole Conversant package should ultimatley be ported to Java using something like WebObjects. That has lots of advantages and brings freedom in ways that currently don't exist. :-)
