“People Should Know Better”

Today, while I was giving a demonstration of some software to a client, the client commented that "everything is slow." I checked to see if the problem was on the server, and it was.

It turns out that one of our sites was receiving thousands and thousands of hits. Closer inspection revealed that they were all coming from the same address, and that they were all XML-RPC requests.

Of course, they're all coming from the owner of the site. He didn't even contact me to warn me that he'd be running a weak attempt at a DoS against our server. How rude.

This would be funny if it weren't so darn annoying.

Names withheld to protect the guilty.

My apologies to the unnamed person in the previous post for almost embarrassing him. I know the problems
