“Violent Burger King (?) Ad”

A couple nights ago I saw an ad on tv for Burger King (or Wendy's, but I think it was BK). The wife is in the kitchen reaching her arm down into a soapy sink, apparently trying to free a clog. The husband comes home, and she reacts with surprise because it's the middle of the work day.

He exaplains that he had a burger for lunch, and now he's going to "take it easy." She reminds him that he has to work, and he says, "I'm smelling the roses." (Apparently the burger has given him inner peace.)

At the end of the commercial, she smacks him on the back of the head -- quite hard, hard enough to move his head forward at least six inches -- and tells him to "get back to work!"

Can you imagine if the roles had been reversed? Can you imagine an ad in which the husband smacks the woman on the back of the head and yells at her to get back to work? Nevermind the feminist reaction, the public in general would probably boycott them.

This ad irritated me. It would have been fine if she'd slapped his butt, or put her hands on his shoulders and marched him to the door. No, though, she actually hit him, and I bet most people don't even notice it.

If I see it again, I'll try to remember more details. The "smack" surprised me enough that I've forgotten some.
