“Searching Within a Weblog?”

Dave Winer has a new weblog search feature running on his site, which lets you, uh... search his weblog. It is a nifty feature, even if it doesn't sound it from my brilliant description.

This, of course, is why Conversant (not a weblog tool) and Weblog II (the new weblog plugin for Conversant) both have and make extensive use of a fully integrated search engine.

Two stories that talk about Dave's new app: one from Brian Carnell, and the other from Steve Ivy.

Now, as proof that Conversant's Weblog II already does this, here's a link showing where Brian mentions 'Winer' on his weblog, and another showing where Steve mentions 'Jodi' (his wife). Notice that the results of these searches are actually shown within the weblog.

That's just the first way that came to mind. You could also use the actual search page on each of those sites.

Having a fully integrated search engine is so very cool.
