“Baby Needed Two New Pairs of (Brake) Shoes”

I had a heart-to-heart with the owner of Rose City Cycle today about my brake problems this weekend. He agreed that they were totally responsible for the problems, and that those problems were very serious. I easily could have been seriously injured (or worse).

They took the bike back into the shop, and I have to say I'm quite impressed with the results. They put top-of-the-line brake shoes on the front and back, trued-up my front wheel, and then adjusted the brakes very carefully to give me maximum stopping power. Then they actually washed my bike and polished it! Really, Jim and Steve probably won't believe me, but the old bike is actually clean for the first time in... uh, I dunno. Since I bought it, maybe?

In other words, they did everything they could, realistically, to make up for my trouble.

Then when I mentioned that I'd lost one of the bolts that holds my cleats to the shoe, he practically ripped it off my foot so he could replace it for me.

All free of charge, of course.

This is EXACTLY what I meant when I said that they were going to be very nice about these problems, or never see me again. I'm happy now.

They also tried to diagnose my bike computer's intermittent failures, but couldn't figure it out. So I went back over to Mystic Cycle, where they decided that the problem is with the jack where the cable plugs in at the back. Ron tried to fix it, and promised that if it doesn't stay fixed, he'll replace it at no charge.
