BareBones has -- after an extremely long beta-period -- released Mailsmith 2.0.

This is a massive improvement over previous versions. Performance has been dramatically increased, PGP is fully integrated (although they misplaced the Decrypt Message menu item under the View menu instead of the Message menu), and support for SpamSieve is actually built into the application (no more AppleScripts to mark messages as spam).

There are loads of other changes, all of them good. It's worth a look.

My "Spiritual Contribution"

I was on the beta team again. The feature on which I had the most "input" is the new URL activator. URLs in email are displayed in blue, and can be clicked on to open them without holding down the command key. I provided a set of Regular Expressions to replace the first attempts at this. They worked well, but were too slow. A few of the alpha versions used my regular expressions, and then Rich Siegel then rewrote the URL activator without regular expressions but based on the ideas I'd presented. He referred to this in a letter as my "spiritual contribution." (Better than nothing.)
