What I'm looking for is a performance grading system.

I think that something like my suggestion would work, because it makes my
average speed for the year into the "baseline". If I were to ride the
"average miles" at the average speed, I'd score a 1. If I ride faster for
the same number of miles, or slower for more miles, I could still score a 1.

Does that make sense?

I'm just looking for a way of measuring my actual performance, which can't
be expressed simply as miles per hour or distance travelled... it's a
combination of the two.
