Just a quick follow-up to yesterday's post. My Dad helped me find a Bible reference that eluded me for almost an hour. It helps explain a bit of what I was trying to say about the effect of "great news" on Corinne and myself in our current condition.
Proverbs 25: 20
As he that taketh away a garment in cold weather, and as vinegar upon nitre, so is he that singeth songs to an heavy heart. [King James Version]
He who sings songs to a heavy heart is like one who takes off a garment on a cold day, and like vinegar on a wound. [Revised Standard Version]
As a follow-up to that post and some of the (unrelated) discussions here on [tw] in the last couple days, someone wrote to me this morning to say that he hopes I'm eventually able to "find ways to grapple" with my "unfortunate situations" in a "mature and effective fashion."
Based on my reaction to that comment (internally)... uh, well, I guess I haven't found them yet.
