“Ride #7: Backwards”

Nice ride today. The weather was great (if a tad breezy), my speed's coming up (it's all relative!), and I feel great even after 34+ miles.

My route today was backwards, basically. I rode a big piece of last season's full training ride (36 miles), but in the opposite direction from how I've always done it. In fact it felt like a completely different route, as I've never ridden on some of these roads in the "opposite" direction.

My weight was creeping down last week, but seems to have sprung back up again over the weekend. Hopefully it's just a fluke (I don't trust my scale, anyway).

(Which reminds me: My parents have a nice balance scale, a miniature version of what you'd find at the doctor's office, and it always says I am about 4% lighter than does my cheap "Health-O-Meter." Since I weigh myself almost daily, I should probably get one like theirs.)

I really love this bike. The cables are starting to stretch, as the shifting isn't nearly as smooth as it used to be. Tomorrow I'll bring over to the shop so they can tighten it up. And, so they can hassle me about having ridden less than 200 miles in the last three weeks.

Stats: 34.1 miles (54.90 km) in 2h 0' 47" for an average speed of 16.93 mph (27.27 kph).

I will sometimes ride my routes "backwards" just to change the scenery. It amazes me how different things
