This is goofy, I know, but Nike's "Just Do It" ad on OLN actually chokes me up. I've seen it at least 20 times now, and I'm still not immune to it. It's embarrassing!
It's weird, too, because it's just Lance riding, and riding, and riding... through the woods in the rain, past a bunch of bison in the fields, through a city where he's chased by a pack of regular riders, and finally on a small road being chased by a little kid with training wheels (which is the only thing that causes him to look over his shoulder).
When I ask myself, "What's making this ad get to me?" the only answer I can come up with is that he just keeps going and going, no matter what's happening. It makes me think of life, how we have to just keep going no matter what, but (at least in my life) the one thing that finally risked derailing me was the kid. In the ad, Lance looks back at the child with concern... but in life, at least for now, I only look back with sorrow.
Sigh... sorry.
Then there's the very funny Dasani ad, again with Lance. He tries to play basketball with some guys on a court by the beach, and gets flattened. Then he hears a Harley starting up, and jumps on his bike to challenge the guy to a race. That ad is *funny*.
There are no trackbacks.
