“Hammed Weddings, Inc?”

My Mom has (jokingly!) suggested that our family start a wedding company. Besides the cooking (Corinne), reading and ushering (me), and marrying (Jed) that I already mentioned, my Mom made all the gowns for the bridesmaids and the bride and all the deviled eggs for the reception, my Dad and Art ran the sound system and shuttled people back and forth between the parking area (at Stop & Shop) and the reception picnic, and Dad helped run one of the grills.

I actually think we (as a family) can be a little overwhelming when we start "helping" a lot with stuff like this. Some of us just like to plan every little detail, some of us want to do everything ourselves, and some of us want both. I know this can tend to crowd out other people who also want to help, unless they have a strong spine and a thick skin.

Still, all the work we did for this wedding was done "at cost" and out of love for both Mark and Michelle, so I don't think anybody's complaining. (Also, Corinne and my Mom were specifically asked to handle the two biggest tasks, so don't think I'm making too big a deal out of that statement. It's just that overall, my family likes being heavily involved in "events.")
