I was all psyched up for last night's "hilly half century" with the group that starts at Mystic Cycle, but this time I was late. One other guy had been there for a few minutes, but when nobody showed up he left and I never saw him.
So, I rode on my own again. No bike problems this time, no problems with Cossaduck Hill, and Route 49 was still a bit gravelly but was much better than last week.
Unfortunately I was as slow as molasses. I was pretty good about attacking every hill, but between the hills I tended to just noodle, or even drift. Also (like Sunday) I only used two energy gel packs instead of the three I'd brought with me. That definitely slows me down, but I'll explain why I did that later today when I start talking about a brand new subject here on [tw].
Today's ride, if I ride at all, will be a short one so that I'm fully recovered for the last time trial of the year, tomorrow night.
Stats: 50.78 miles (81.75 km) in 2h 45' 59" for an average speed of 18.35 mph (29.55 kph).
There are no trackbacks.
