I was thinking just this morning that a disc brake cyclocross bike would make an excellent winter ride... I'm not sure that's an affordable option... I am considering it myself in a far off, I'm not buying bikes while I'm not working kinda way, but my wife has expressed grave reservations about my riding through the winter. She'd much prefer I use the trainer and find someplace to swim... It's not the same though :)
