I know I'm a baby, but I'd much rather ride in hot weather than cold.
Corinne bought me some very nice Sugoi arm warmers, and a nice pair of leg warmers (can't remember the brand). I couldn't ride at all without them in this weather (55 deg Farenheit), but I'm also wearing two pairs of socks and a t-shirt under my jersey.
(Oh, I also bought a pair of Specialized winter cycling gloves, with full fingers. Unlike the Specialized BG Pro gloves I wore all summer, which I despised and finally retired when there was almost nothing left of them, I love these new gloves. Not all bulky, and they actually fit my very large hands.)
Note that I've never tried riding in the cold before. Every other year, I just let the bike sit there, and look at it longingly all Autumn and Winter.
Every time I go out, I see the same three or four guys at various parts of my route. We've all started wearing the warmer gear, but today I noticed two of them were a step ahead of me: they had long-sleeved riding jackets. Hey, what a concept: warmth for the whole winter (other than the very coldest days)!
Think they make them in my size? My arms are awfully long.
(Hear that sigh? That's Corinne. We/she thought I was done buying gear.)
Stats: 39.25 miles (63.19 km) in 2h 0' 11" for an average speed of 19.59 mph (31.54 kph).
There are no trackbacks.
