September is generally a great month, possibly the best month of cycling in the year. I'm finally in decent shape, and the weather is cooler (though sometimes rainier than the rest of the summer).

The plan is to ride two centuries this month: a solo on my birthday, and the Tri-State near the end of the month with Steve Davis, Jason Cicero, and a few hundred others.

There were three cycling-related goals for this year:

  • A training ride at 21 mph or faster - accomplished in August
  • Get my weight down to 240 or lower
  • Ride 5,000 miles

I'm starting the month at my lowest weight since Corinne and I got married: 245 pounds. Looks like the second goal is within reach for this month!

The third goal will probably be met in October. There are still 1200 miles to go, there's no stinkin' way I'll do all of those in September. I do hope to be more consistent than I was in August (the time off after the PMC sucked a lot of days off the calendar, so to speak), but 1200 miles is out of the question.
