So are you saying that you shut down at night, or that you just put your mac to sleep at night?

There are definitely alternative ways to make sure cron's scripts get run at other times of the day, but that's not even close to half of a solution.

Restarting, or shutting down and rebooting later, accomplishes the same thing but is total overkill.
