That's the problem with riding all year long! In January I'm still in relatively good shape from riding so much the year before. By April I've only been riding a few times per month for months on end, and my performance is way down.

On the other hand, I don't start off as badly as I do if I don't ride at all over the winter.

Look at some of my previous years (heh!), you can see the trend curves. Last year was the first year I rode in Jan, Feb, or Mar.
