After i returned from my ride, today, I sat in my office to complete some work. Jed's at Mark & Michelle Drake's house for the evening and Corinne is cooking so this is a nice, quiet time to work.
I'd been sitting here working quietly for over an hour when suddenly... a machine gun started shooting at me! Seriously!
Ok, maybe not seriously. But it sounded like one, and I don't want to guess how many years this took off my life. Scared the … whatever … out of me. Seriously.
What was it? Took me a few seconds to figure it out, too, so bear with me.
We're rebuilding our deck this weekend. Jed (my little brother, the chef-turned-carpenter) is running the show.
At night, he puts many of his tools in my office, which is just inside the sliding doors near the deck.
Apparently, he “forgot” to shut off the big air compressor — which runs his nail gun — when he was done working for the day. With nobody using the nail gun, the pressure leaked out of the tank very slowly. Eventually, the motor kicked on to re-pressurize the tanks.
That sucker's loud, and I hadn't even noticed that it was in the room!
Now I need to “accidentally” leave a jet engine under his bed tonight, and then “accidentally” turn it on after he's asleep. ;-)
