I banged on the door very loud at least ten times, then shook the door as hard as I could for about 30 seconds.
I don't think you woke up... I think you just incorporated the door knocking/shaking into a dream. (I only tap the toothbrush two or three times, and it generally doesn't shake the walls of the hotel!)
Still, there's no need to defend yourself. Sleeping deeply is not a fault.
