There's something about riding a century that makes all the other rides seem easy. (At least for a few days immediately afterwards.)
Last month, right after the PMC (which felt like three centuries in a row, even though one is 'only' 80+ miles), I rode my first two 21+ mph rides of the year. My goal is five for the year, but I haven't had another one since then.
This past Saturday I rode my birthday century (an a quarter of someone else's!), then took Sunday off to recover. (Plus, Corinne and I went to the Taste of Mystic festival for the afternoon.)
Monday's ride? 21.2 mph.
Tuesday's ride? 21.55 mph. That's a new record for me on a 20+ mile route (and it includes the frustrating delays of riding through beautiful downtown Mystic).
Stats for #95: 21.83 miles (35.14 km) in 1h 1' 45" for an average speed of 21.21 mph (34.15 kph).
Stats for #96: 20.27 miles (32.63 km) in 56' 26" for an average speed of 21.55 mph (34.69 kph).
There are no trackbacks.
