The transmission in Jed's Durango bit the dust last night, just as he exited the highway in Spokane, Washington. That was supposed to be his last night in the US for awhile, but now he's stuck there in Spokane for at least another day.
He sent out an email to lots of friends and family this morning, and called me a few minutes ago. "I'm so close I can taste it!" were the first words he said on the phone.
The transmission is completely gone, so whatever service station he's stuck with is completely replacing it with a factory rebuilt.
We both knew his transmission was risky before he left, as it would slip once or twice when cold. Little issues like that were most certainly not going to keep him here for a few more days, though.
I'm glad that it worked fine all the way through the mountains and at least two snow storms, and waited to die until he was in a relatively safe and populated area. (In fact, we're all happy about that.)
There are no trackbacks.
