This ride was really divided into three stages.
First, I rode to Mystic Cycle so that Rick could look into the very annoying clicking problem that was coming from the bottom bracket again, and tune up the brakes a little. He fixed the click by adding some grease and something to prevent "seizing". I don't completely understand what he did, but he fixed it. Unfortunately, he didn't fix the brakes. The front brakes were just kissing the front wheel, enough that I could hear it a little. It was a little annoying, nothing more. He switched the pads around, and now I barely have any front brakes at all! I guess I'll be going back tomorrow.
Brakes are for wusses, anyway. ;-)
The second part of the ride was just a mile or two around the outside of Mason Island. I'd never been there before (which you'll think is weird if you live here, but I just wasn't really aware of it)! Anyway, I just did this for a test ride after he'd 'fixed the click', and before the brakes.
I should have left it at that, instead of going back for the brake work. I can live with an annoying little sound, I'm used to that sort of thing from this over-abused bike.
The third part of the ride was the majority of it. I followed Route 1 to where it merges with 214 (just up the hill from the Pawcatuck/Westerly line), 214 to North Anguilla Road, to Rt. 184, to home.
A new experience for me: on 184, I was hailed on. It wasn't heavy, but it stung anyway.
The stats are pretty good, considering how piecemeal the ride was. Exactly 28.50 miles in 92:38, for an average speed of 18.46 miles per hour.
There are no trackbacks.
