Saturday afternoon I went out for my "standard" training ride of thirty miles, which is relatively flat (plenty of climbing, but no major hills).
The first fifteen and last eight miles were great. By the time I'd reached South Anguilla road - about fifteen miles into the ride - my average speed was twenty-one miles per hour. Unfortunately, both South Anguilla and North Anguilla are very twisty-turny, and have a couple of long, rolling hills. By the time I'd reached Route 184 on the far side of North Anguilla my average speed was down to just 19.9.
Ignore the pain and just push it, until the world around me starts quivering, vibrating in time with your heartbeat. That's when I figure I'd better back off a little. ;-)
Still, I made up for enough of my losses on the Anguillas, resulting in the second best ride of the season (to date), missing July 16th's mark by just 0.03 miles per hour.
Stats: 30.0 miles (48.3 km) in 89' 5" for an average speed of 20.20 mph (32.53 kph).
(One last note: Corinne and I both see a lot of cyclists out on Saturday mornings. It's too bad, I almost never see anyone in the afternoons. I don't enjoy riding in the morning, feel like I have no energy... but I really enjoy catching the riders ahead of me, which are too sparse in the afternoons.)
There are no trackbacks.
