Apple Events and Frontier

John VanDyk had to rewrite some Frontier scripts in AppleScript today. I had the same problem, and wasted a couple hours this morning doing the very same thing.

Something about AppleEvents changed in 10.2.2, and neither Frontier or Radio have been updated yet to deal with it. The first AE always seems to go fine, and the second one causes Frontier/Radio to crash.

It's especially frustrating in Radio. If your browser isn't running when you launch Radio, it launches it for you (one AE) and then sends you to the desktop website's home page (two AE's). Kaboom.

I'm sure they'll have it fixed soon, but it was a major hassle this morning to rewrite my scripts in AppleScripts. When it comes to string handling, AppleScript is to Frontier what Frontier is to Perl. Seriously, it's that bad.

You could leave it at that. What a train wreck. AppleScript is Satan's idea of a scripting language. Never the same structure of commands twice. Gack, I hated it. As for the opening the app breaking the browser, whack the script that makes the call until it's addressed.
