"Perhaps our brains have gotten too big, and our skulls too thick, to let any light in." That was a comment made by a scientist being interviewed on NPR this morning. They've found light receptors inside the brains of birds and reptiles -- light receptors that actually detect light through the skull. Mammals don't have them, apparently.
"He was speaking figuratively, of course, not literally." That was the interviewers response, made to the radio audience.
Hah, that made me laugh out loud.

You know, it just struck me that I must have typed that incorrectly. It's funny either way around, but I think the interviewer must have said, "He was speaking literally, of course, not figuratively."
Whoa, somebody needs a holiday.
