Self-Antonyms? (Contranyms)

How many words can you think of, in the English language, that have two meanings and are their own antonyms? One word, with (at least) two meanings (strict definitions, or very-common-usage), where those two meanings are essentially the opposite of each other.

I have one, but I'm told there are at least five.

Ride #25: May the Wind Always be At Your Back

Traditional Irish Blessing

May the road rise to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
The sun shine warm upon your face
The rains fall soft upon your fields
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of his hand.

This ride was totally unbelievable.

We were invited for a picnic at my uncle and aunt's house (Gary and Ellyn Schlageter), to celebrate my grandparents' anniversary (53rd? 52nd? something like that). They live in Westerly, so I decided I'd ride my bike over there and asked Corinne to meet me there with the truck.

The ride was 17.76 miles. I went out of my way to make it a bit longer than normal, trying to get as close to 20 miles as I could without being really late. I finished in 53:35.

That gives me an average speed of 19.88 miles per hour!

I admit that the wind was at my back for most of the ride, since this wasn't a "loop". That certainly had something to do with it. I also felt better, physically, than I have in awhile.

Snapshot of my performance graph.19.88 miles per hour!

Look at what that does to the performance graph. I'm hoping to get my averages up there on a regular basis, but not "suddenly" like this: it's something I have to work for. I'm still shooting for 19! Maybe I'll be up there by September, maybe a little earlier.

I can try to talk myself out of it, but so far it's not working: I'm very pleased with today's stats.

The graph above is a "snapshot" of the graph as of today. To see the regular graph, up-to-date with all of the rides for this year, visit this year's cycling diary.
