That bit I wrote yesterday about Brian Carnell's use of Conversant for knowledge management was very well received. Much better than I'd expected, in fact.
It started with Brian's article, Cache Me If You Can, which reminded me that I've wanted to say something about knowledge management -- using Brian's work as an example -- for awhile.
After my bit, Don Larson responded. Then Duncan Smeed had his say... twice.
A little later, Greg Pierce wrote Raving (which I thought he should have called "Rave2" or "Rave^2", but maybe I'm just sleep-deprived).
I thought it would end there... but no. Today Mark Morgan wrote his opinion of Brian's work (and his opinion of my opinion). Mark reminded me of an important point that I intentionally left out of my initial comments (which I wanted to remain focused on Knowledge Management). There are lots of people doing great work with Conversant, and they're all doing something different. I'm quite proud of the whole community that's growing up around this "little" project that sprang to life a couple years ago.
Just to be thorough, I'll finish up by mentioning that Brian brought the discussion full circle when he posted a response to yesterday's piece. It sounds he's trying to give Conversant most of the credit, but if that were true then there would be more sites like his on the net already. Conversant gets the credit for being a powerful tool... but just as everyone knows that hammers don't build beautiful homes, we all know that software doesn't build great web sites or add depth to information: people do.
I'm still a little jealous, though. ;-)
