My friend Jim Roepcke announced today that a book he collaborated on, WebObjects 5.0 with Java, is being released soon. He didn't tell any of his friends that he was working on the book, because of the NDA he signed, so this was a pleasant surprise.

The book is published by WROX Press. I have another book by WROX, Professional JavaScript. It's well written, but I have one huge complaint: the index sucks. Professional reference material needs to have a really good index... in fact, I'd say the index is the most important part of the book. This book's index, for example, included "JavaScript" as one of the indexed words, and then proceeded to list almost every page the word appeared on. The whole book is about JavaScript! Duh! (Other than the index, the book is great and I still use it.)

I hope this new WO book that Jim collaborated on is a huge success... and I hope it has a great index!

The latest report on Dave is that he has a tumor in his liver, and the biopsy they did today didn't go well and he's in a lot of pain.

We didn't see him today, but we will tomorrow.
