Mozilla Bugs I Track

Here's a list of the Mozilla bugs that I'm tracking:

  • Fixed form submission fails when encType is multipart/form-data

This bug hits virtually all Conversant sites, as Conversant discussion groups use forms of this type (because of a message's file attachments).

  • document.addEventListener fails on load and unload

This bug prevents me from programmatically adding a handler for a document's "load" event. Working around it with the onLoad attribute of the body tag means that a call would need to be added to the page for every library needing post-load initialization. That's acceptable for development purposes, but not for production code.

  • Fixed Shifted keybindings don't work

Command-shift-L, for example, doesn't do anything in the current version. It should open the "Open Web Location" dialog.

This will bug Brian A. enough to drive him back to Netscape 4.7x (if other bugs didn't already do it), so I'm hoping they have it fixed before 0.9.6 is released in a few weeks. (I think they will.)

  • Cannot call nsIStringStream from Javascript

    This broke Mozilla's built-in support for XML-RPC/JavaScript.

I thought there were more, but I can't find them so I guess I'm not tracking them after all!

Mozilla 0.9.5+ build 2001103008

This isn't an official release from Mozilla, it's just one of their nightly builds which I update to on a weekly basis. Still, it has a feature that's cool enough to be worth mentioning.

In 0.9.5, they released the "tabbed interface", which is a great way to limit Mozilla's use of your screen real estate and have very fast access to all of your pages. One additional feature that wasn't included, but now *is* included, is the ability to open links directly to a new tab. Command-click (or control-click on Windows) already opened the link in a new window, so I wanted either a pref to switch that to "command click to open a new tab" or an alternative modifier key like "option-click to open a new tab".

This version has exactly what I was going to ask for. A preference allows you to specify that command-clicks will open the link in a new tab. The only thing they could have done better was have the tab load in the background without disturbing the page I was already reading. I understand that was their intent, and it'll be fixed in a future version.

Unfortunately, this version also includes a new bug: the command-shift-L combination doesn't work any more. It's been reported numerous times, though, so I think they'll have it fixed before 0.9.6.

If you're interested, I posted the list of Mozilla bugs that I'm tracking earlier today.
