"Perhaps our brains have gotten too big, and our skulls too thick, to let any light in." That was a comment made by a scientist being interviewed on NPR this morning. They've found light receptors inside the brains of birds and reptiles -- light receptors that actually detect light through the skull. Mammals don't have them, apparently.
"He was speaking figuratively, of course, not literally." That was the interviewers response, made to the radio audience.
Hah, that made me laugh out loud.
This writer has become increasingly conscious of the overuse of self-references in the first person.
Doesn't anyone else find it boring when people only want to talk about themselves?
Perhaps it's a sign of selfishness.
My mind just did a flip-flop.
Dave Winer's Scripting News has a good name. You know what it's about, as soon as you see the name (unless you don't know what scripting is, or you're a playwright).
In a lot of ways, though, the site has stopped being about scripting, and is now more about weblogs (a type of news site), rss feeds (automated, syndicated news 'channels'), etc.
So "Scripting News" takes on a new meaning. It's still accurate, but instead of being a news site about scripting, it's a site about "scripting the news".
Wacky. I still need a holiday.
Wow, looking at this picture of New York is enough to make you dizzy.
And a little sick.
That picture is dated October 18, 2001.
