Heard on NPR this morning:
"Today is Matthew Broderick's birthday. He's...
(oh just say it already)
forty years old."
Oh man. A whole generation groaned at the same moment, and will try very hard not to look in the mirror for the rest of the day.
Ferris wasn't ever supposed to reach middle age!
Daniel Berlinger responded to my questions about Macrobyte's future, on his site.
This is my response.
I was just looking over my logs, and found that in the last three days, over one hundred people came here from Google, looking for my story about ColorGenics.
Google's funny sometimes. I mostly talk about cycling, Macrobyte, my family, and Conversant... but I'm listed near the top for some of my one-offs.
Well, for better or worse, Macrobyte's search engine for UserLand's Radio Community Server has been finished.
This project was started with an understanding which has since been... delayed. I hope this wasn't a big mistake.
We're taking a chance on the community here. It'll be interesting to see how this tool sells.
Wired has a story today about Google yanking Anti-Scientology sites from their database due to a threat of a law suit from that church.
Mainly, their story just reminds me of how very evil the DMCA is. Right at the end, though, there's a paragraph about Scientology itself which is downright freaky.
Hubbard's secret scriptures teach that 75 million years ago, an evil galactic overlord named Xenu solved the galaxy's overpopulation problem by freezing excess people and transporting the bodies to Teegeeack, now called Earth. After the hapless travelers were defrosted, they were chained to volcanoes that were blown up by hydrogen bombs -- and their disembodied spirits continue to haunt mankind today.
(The Church of Scientology was founded by L. Ron Hubbard, who's also known for his non-religious science fiction.)

is Seth Dillingham's personal web site. From now on, ending a sentence with a preposition is something up with which I will not put. - WC |
