Registering BBEdit 6.5.2 this morning, I came to the question, "How did you hear about BBEdit?"
What? Come on, you've got to be kidding. I've been using it since 1.0, which was a really long time ago! Here's how I answered the question:
Vibrating air molecules struck my tempanic membranes, causing further vibrations in the hammer, anvil, stirrup, and the cilia in my cochlea.
Finally, sympathetic nerve impulses were sent along my auditory nerves to cells in my brain, which roughly translated all this shaking-and-jiving into the words, "BBEdit doesn't suck!"
Ask a silly question, get a cilia answer.
Update: Jim Correia (from BareBones) doesn't think there was a version 1.0 of BBEdit. Oops! I didn't remember that. He's checking to be sure, but he's probably right.
Update II: Yep, he was right. 2.1 was the first version shipped by Bare Bones Software, Inc.
Clark Venable has had me working (off and on for months) on integrating desktop web sites on laptops running Radio Userland with a centrally-hosted and managed Conversant site. (What a mouthful.)
I'd like to do a complete write-up of how the system works. It's not complicated, but unfortunately I just don't have time right now. Clark has written up a sketch of the system and what it's doing for him, and that will have to do for now. I'm going to write up the full explanation as part of an example in Conversant's documentation.
