Should I Auction Myself for the PMC?

Last year, I didn't raise the minimum $2500 for the PMC until the last few days before the cutoff point (after which they would have charged my own credit card for the balance). This year, the minimum is higher ($2750). However, if I'm a little better organized, I think I can easily meet that minimum before the ride in August (versus the deadline, which is in October).

One thing I'm going to try is auctioning myself on eBay, with all proceeds going to the PMC. Really! Ok, sort of.

What I mean is that I'm planning to auction off some of my time: I figured I'd start with three blocks: 8 hours (or "one day"), 4 hours, and an hour. My intent is that the time won in the auction would be spent on some programming- or web site-related task(s), but, in the end, what I do will be up to the winning bidder. (Anything within reason is fine with me. If you'd prefer that I spend the time painting your house, well... it's your time.)

Obviously, I'll have to set some reasonable minimums, but I haven't decided what those will be, yet.

What do you think of this idea?

All thoughts and opinions are welcome (as long as you're not trolling), just post a reply to this message (you'll have to be a member first, and logged on).

Assuming I try this, the time frame would be late March. If it goes well, I'd probably do it again in June.
