Yesterday evening I went to the police to get Shane's keys, and then to his apartment to figure out what we'd need to do when cleaning it out. Totally by coincidence, there was a reporter there trying to do a followup piece about Shane's death. There's some funny stuff to say about this mini-interview, but I don't have time right now so I'll just point to the very nice article appearing in today's Norwich Bulletin, by Gregory Smith.
Oh, one other thing. I'm told that most people won't understand this line:
Several of Kilhefner's notable trademarks were his bad driving skills and singing "like a duck," Dillingham said.
Some people are described as "singing like a bird," to indicate talent. A duck is probably not the bird that first comes to mind, though. Unless you've ever heard Shane sing.
Whatever. I thought it was better than the old saw about carrying a tune in a bucket.
