PMC Has a New Presenting Sponsor: Overstock.com

The Pan-Mass Challenge has a big, new corporate sponsor. Overstock.com has committed $1.5 Million over three years. This puts them in good company, as the Red Sox have been the presenting sponsors since 2003:

This sponsorship, announced today by PMC Founder and Executive Director Billy Starr, is for three years and worth more than $1.5 million to the PMC and its beneficiary, the Jimmy Fund.

Overstock.com joins the World Champion Boston Red Sox as the eventís co-presenting sponsor. The Red Sox have been the PMCís presenting sponsor since 2003, contributing nearly $2 million to the organization.

(Lots of money flying around the PMC these days.)

Overstock.com was founded by Patrick Byrne, who has been riding in the PMC for many years, has survived cancer three times, and ridden across the country four times. (Hmm. I need to make a new friend...) He has personally donated over $1 Milllion to the PMC in four years.

The above quote is from an email sent out to all of the riders. I can't find the press release anywhere on the web.

(Please don't compare their pitiful sum of $1.5 Million to the $510 I've already raised! It just isn't fair to them.)

MacMerc.com Reviews Firefox Hacks

MacMerc.com: Review >> Firefox Hacks by O'Reilly

For example, in just the first hundred pages you'll learn how to migrate profiles between platforms and versions, tear web pages apart with the DOM Inspector, detail security limitations and deploy Firefox on a network. In the next couple hundred pages you'll get into advanced topics like working with XML-RPC, SOAP and other XML technologies, developing applications in Mozilla's XUL and hacking into the core of Firefox itself modifying menus and behavior. [emphasis added]

Cool! Of all the topics they could have mentioned in this book, they picked some of mine.

On that note, I'd like to remind everybody that buying Firefox Hacks through one of my links (or anything else through one of my links to Amazon, as seen on most pages on the web site) will help me raise $6,000 towards the PMC, for cancer research and treatment. So far, I haven't sold anything.
