Remember the PMC Software Auction I've been planning for the last six weeks?
There were a total of 49 programs/products donated. Some developers/companies actually donated ten licenses instead of the requested five (or donated five for Mac and five for Windows if they had both). With everything tallied up (assuming nobody comes through in the next two days), it comes to 270 licenses donated to the auction.
34 Mac programs, a total of 170 licenses. 16 Windows programs (actually including one online service), a total of 100 licenses. Wow! Check out the whole list.
I haven't yet counted the total retail value of all this software, but it's well into the thousands of dollars. My guess is that it's somewhere around $8,000.
The auctions start next week, on eBay, and that's when I'm going to need everyone's help. That means you! The more people that know about this auction, the better. There's going to be something on these discs for everyone.
One last note: when I first had this idea, there were certain products I really wanted to include on the Mac discs. The last holdout was Delicious Monster's famous Delicious Library, winner of one of this year's Apple Design Awards. They finally responded to me last week, donating five licenses for the auction. Yay! (In fact, the project started with software I really wanted to include, too, from Ranchero Software. Lots of generous programmers...)
