Today would have been your 25th birthday. Your Mom and I wondered, today, where you'd be and what you'd be doing now, if you hadn't fallen eighteen months and six days ago.
We still miss you and talk about you all the time. Most days we can smile when you come up, your name is tied to an awful lot of good memories. With our new perspective, even any trouble you caused has become a fond memory... but really, there was very little of that. (Unless we're talking about cars! ;-)
Today I thanked God for the time we had (shortened as it was). It's the best I could do. You definitely left us 'wanting more'.
If you've been paying attention, you've probably noticed that the PMC Software Auction still hasn't started. This is ridiculous, I know. Being busy at work prevented me from concentrating on it for the first week of September, but last week I simply procrastinated because I was nervous about it: I've never actually run an auction on eBay. This is a big deal, and I want it to go well.
Anyway, I finally went through the whole list of donated software, and gathered up all the prices. The software on each Mac software pack has a retail value of $1,137.29, and the Windows packs have a retail value of $1078.19. There was also a donation of five lifetime accounts on an online calendaring service, which I'm going to include as a bonus for the five overall-highest bidders. (There's no way I'll get the retail value from this auction, but maybe a quarter of retail value? A third?)
(At the top of the donations list you'll see buttons to show only the software from your preferred platform. It was easy, so I did it. ;-)
Early in the process of soliciting donations for this project, the Windows platform was much further behind than it is now. There are still significantly fewer programs on the Windows packs (sixteen, versus thirty-four on the Mac). What surprises me, though, is the value: the retail value of the Windows packs are only about $60 less than the Mac discs. Weird.
Anyway, the auction is just about ready. I'm waiting for my brother the eBay guru to return home from a camping trip before I actually post them.
